Mae Gibson-Brown, MA Theology serves as an Associate Minister at New Haven's St. Matthews Free Will Baptist Church, the liaison for the Bereavement Committee, Chairperson of the Prison Ministry and the Shoe Box Ministry, which she created. She is the co-founder of the Salt and Pepper Gospel Singers who have performed across the US and internationally for over 30 years. She is a retired Early Childhood Teacher, having spent 48 years in the classroom. She received her bachelor's degree in 1988 and in 2017 she earned a dual Masters' Degree in Theology and certification as a life coach, proving that it is never too late to achieve new goals and dreams. Mae is the founder and sole proprietor of Purple Roots and is known as a modern-day African American Griot, (a West African storyteller, poet, musician). She educates children, teens, adults on the history of the African American Family through seminars, workshops and conferences.
