Arnold Heiser PhD is a retired Emeritus Professor of Astronomy from Vanderbilt University where he taught astrophysics courses to both undergraduate and graduate students for more than 40 years. His research was in observational astrophysics, investigating pulsating variable stars and stellar associations. He recently transcribed an 1878 hand-written manuscript by the astronomer E. E. Barnard entitled Mars: His Moons and His Heavens. Dr. Heiser is a volunteer at Yale's Peabody Museum of Natural History and for the last 10 years has been teaching lifelong learning courses.
